Stone #15

Spiders’ webs, coated with moisture, are revealed in the morning sun.

I tried to keep today's stone very simple and uncontrived today... And that feels very uncomfortable, like a half-baked effort. Hmmm.

  1. Hi Sam. Your stone says it perfectly. I love when the sunlight illuminates the intricate design of the spider's web..... one of nature's most beautiful art forms. I love spiders..... as well as worms. :)

  3. Sam, this doesn't read as half-baked at all to me, but I'm interested in the fact that it doesn't feel finished to you. I'd be so interested to see how you might rewrite it--what would feel more natural to you? (No pressure! Obviously, that's not a request or anything. I'm just musing, and maybe attempting to offer inspiration...just in case it strikes you that way.)

  4. Amy, it felt as though by describing exactly what I could see, rather than by finding an image to express what I could see, that I was somehow 'cheating'. It was an odd thing. But it speaks volumes to me, I'm always looking for things to be so clever as to exclude me from being able to participate...

  5. Sam, in my experience, when writing feels exclusive or confusing, it's generally because it's not terribly well done (or it's well over done!). *You* are plenty clever in all the right ways. xo
